Week 110 - Weekend Scholarship Program (Age 5-17)

Date : 4 Oct. 2025

Text : 1 Cor. 14:1-19

We learnt about the true meaning of tongues — that they are meant to be intelligible words of worship and communication, not meaningless sounds. Every spiritual gift is given so that we can build up others, not to make ourselves appear more spiritual or important. Unfortunately, the gift of tongues is often misunderstood and used in ways that only serve to puff people up with pride.

Paul himself spoke in tongues — that is, he had the ability to speak in many different languages by the Spirit’s enabling. Yet he made it clear that he would rather speak just five words that others can understand and be helped by, than ten thousand words in a tongue that no one understands. His point is that what truly matters is edifying others, not displaying personal spirituality.

By speaking in clear language, people who hear us can understand the gospel preached, and through that understanding, faith can grow to the glory of God. This is the true purpose of our words and our gifts — to draw others closer to Christ and to build up His church in truth and love.

Though many of the kids have drawn back as the gospel message deepens, exposes our sins, and calls for genuine repentance, those who remain are growing steadily in the knowledge of the truth. We are in prayer for their soul. The Lord is at work, refining and strengthening us by His grace.

Thank you for your support and encouragement.
