Hawking Vegetables and Pursuing Dream :

The Inspiring Story of Deborah and why we must do more to help

Deborah wakes up early before 6am to help her mom sell vegetables - water leaves around their neighborhood. She will load up the big black bowl and carry on her head as she walked through the neighborhood, calling out to potential buyers. After a few hours of hawking vegetables, she will rush back home to get ready for the free weekend program that she loves to attend.

Yesterday, she couldn’t sell off all the vegetables on time, so she came with it to the program. I was amazed to see her carrying the big bowl as I arrived and she was rushing down. However, every week, she would fall asleep during the program, she was always so tired, 10-20minute into the first session - Bible study, she falls asleep, I kept correcting her and wondering why and how she could win the end of year price -2023 while asleep half of the time.

I was shocked to see the amount of work she put in before even getting to the program. She would walk through the neighborhood, carrying the big bowl of vegetables on her head, trying to sell as much as she could. it’s no wonder that Deborah was always exhausted by the time she got to the program. At an early age, she is working so hard to help her family earn a living without missing the opportunity to attend the free weekend program.

It is our desire to build an excellent boarding school and a good orphanage to house, educate, disciple and help these vulnerable kids.

Keep us in your prayer.
