Week 75 pt2 - Free Weekend Program For Children (Age 5-17)
4/11/20251 min read
This year, we are blessed to have Evangelist Heshimu Colar teaching the youth (ages 8-17) through the book of 1 Corinthians, while the younger children (ages 5-7), who are still learning to read, are listeing to the gospel story starting from Genesis chapter one.
God created the heavens and the earth, establishing both the spiritual kingdom and the physical world. He transformed the emptiness that characterized our existence—“without form and void”
What is particularly profound is the presence of the Holy Spirit, “hovering over the waters” during this time of emptiness and darkness. This water signifies the Word of God —the Gospel—embodied in Christ Jesus, who is the Word made flesh (John 1:14). It is through Him that our dead souls, once lifeless in sin and trespasses, are awakened by the power of the Holy Spirit.
When God said, “Let there be light,” understanding entered our dark hearts, opening our eyes to the truth of the gospel and He distinguished - seperated light from darkness.
We once viewed stealing as a clever act, but now we recognize it as theft. What we once thought was clever strategy - craftiness and cunning deceit has revealed itself to be nothing more than lies and wickedness.
God also created physical fruits—such as bananas, oranges, and yams—as well as spiritual fruits—like love, peace, joy, and faithfulness—to nourish our bodies and delight our souls. He called all of these creations good, and indeed they are.
Genesis chapter 1 reveals not only the creation of the heavens and the earth by God but also foreshadows the story of our redemption through Christ.
We will continue next week to tell the story of creation, proclaiming the gospel truth and trusting that the Lord will give salvation.
